Richard E. Dirickson

Born in Wichita, Kansas in 1941, Mr. Dirickson received a B.A. from the University of San Francisco and then served in the U.S. Army, completed officers candidate school and was commissioned as a second lieutenant. He served as aide-de-camp to the U.S. commander in Berlin and was honorably discharged in 1968. Mr. Dirickson joined Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith as an Account Executive and later held the job of Sales Manager and Vice President of Sales. In 1981, Mr. Dirickson joined Hambrecht & Quist as Executive Vice President. In addition, he served as Managing Director of Retail Sales and was on the firm’s Operating Committee. Mr. Dirickson was asked to lead San Francisco Sentry and has been its Chairman and CEO since 1990. He is currently Director Emeritus of the San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Merrill Lynch Magowan
Born in San Francisco in 1938, Mr. Magowan received his B.A. from Yale University in 1960. Until the formation of Magowan Investment Co. in 1982, he spent his entire career with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith. Following his initial training, he became an Account Executive in New York City, dealing with both local and international individuals and institutions. In 1971, Mr. Magowan became Sales Manager of the San Francisco office, and in 1975, he opened a new office for the firm in Carmel, CA. Mr. Magowan was appointed Managing Director of Marketing in 1978, and he developed new sources of revenue and coordinated the delivery of products & services to the corporate market. In 1982, he founded the Magowan Investment Co., which became the Magowan Dirickson Investment Company in 1990. He served on the Board of Directors of Safeway stores from 1968 to 1986. He has served on the boards of 20 non-profit organizations and is the current Chairman of the Board of the Marine Mammal Center and Chairman of the National Tropical Botanical Garden.
